phew!

Well... this week I had a HUGE scare.  I felt a gamut of emotions and think I may have had a minor anxiety attack.  For two days in a row, Ruby decided that she was not going to have a nap.

Now hold on for a second.... if you're thinking "what's the big deal" and "don't be so over dramatic lady", listen up!  I need those naps.  Ruby needs them more than I do so thankfully, it only lasted two days.  She's up there now, snoozing in her crib.... all cute and cuddled up.  Every day when I go get her I have an intense urge to jump in there with her!  I think she'd love it, but I'm scared I'de break the thing, so restraint keeps me out.  Pretty soon we'll be getting her a bigger bed, so I'll be able to get my snuggles then.  For now, I'll rely on weekend mornings when I bring her into bed with us for a quick cuddle before she gets too impatient and wants "down".

She's getting very independent and wants to do most things on her own now.  Eating with a fork and spoon, brushing her teeth, taking her socks off, jumping in puddles........

We spent about 2 hours outside yesterday jumping in puddles.  I brought her to the park but we ended up in the parking lot for the most part.  She had a blast.  When we got home, she wasn't done so she played in the puddles on our street until she wiped out and got a bloody lip.  Ya... her first major spill.  I think it hurt me more than it hurt Ruby, but she's sporting the fat lip.

It's looking like Spring is on its way in...... don't we change the clocks this weekend?

home at last

Daddy's home.  Everything's back to normal and us girls couldn't be more thrilled.  We love him.  :)
Wish I had a family photo to share but I did't really get around to many photos this weekend.  That's a project for this week - an updated family photo!  On the to-do list!

I did get a couple shots of our lovely visit today with Nan Lynn and Papa.  As always, we got spoiled rotten with gifts.  I've hidden some of the homemade baked treats Lynn brought so I can ration them out this time.  I've learned my lesson.  Those peanut butter balls, as with all treats, have a funny way of disappearing around here and I wouldn't mind having a few myself.  {Sorry Ryan.  Your secret's out}.

The little ponytail on top of her head is really cute.... but has a tendency to stick straight up sometimes.  Her hair is finally growing.... but still a bit of a dilemma for me.  Oh well.... I've resigned to just leave it alone and see what happens.  Let it grow, let it grow... :)

Ta for now!

day 5

Sorry... I missed day 4.
I was exhausted when Ruby finally got to bed..... I was curled up in my own bed by 9 p.m.

OK.... so day 5, (like days 2 through 4), begins at 8 a.m.  It's going to be an adjustment getting up earlier once Daddy gets home.  This sleeping in business is quite amazing.  Just us two lazy girls.... drifting in and out of sleep for an hour before finally deciding to get up.  What a great way to start the day.... no schedule to follow.... no alarm....  it's wonderful!  But all good things must come to an end I suppose.  Actually, if we stay in bed any longer in the morning, the mid-day nap will get screwed up..... so, I've set the limit to 8 a.m. for morning sleep-in.  It'll do.

You've seen pictures before of Ruby and her fetish with putting things on her head.  Hats... blankets.... whatever she can find to amuse herself.  Well this morning she took the trophy.  She waltzed into the room with a pair of my underwear on her head, grinning ear to ear!  I almost peed my pants.

Have a great day Ryan!  We'll see you in approximately 48 hours......

day 3 - baking cookies

We made cookies!

Here's proof.  I apologize for the long video.... it's slightly boring in the middle, but the beginning and end are cute.

Sorry as well about the mom commentary.  I'll make sure to keep that under wraps from now on!
Forgot how close I am to the mike.

Ciao!

this is for you

After lunch Ruby climbed up onto the chair and grabbed the phone.
I caught her having a conversation with Daddy.
She's thinking about you Ryan.

day 2

Today was great!  We had fun.  Ruby decided to share her snack with Elmo, which is something she's never done before.

After supper we went outside for a walk.... up and down the street.... up and down people's driveways..... in puddles..... picking up ice rocks..... She didn't want to come in.  We were out there for 30 minutes and I had to pick her up and lug her home, kicking.

While outside, I noticed that it was still very bright after 6 p.m.  Did the time change on me?  Don't think so.... but the days certainly are getting longer.  SO happy about that.  Going outside after supper is a wonderful way to end the day.  Can't wait to ditch the stupid snow pants and mitts.  Grrr... they really do suck.

On that note, I'm off to the basement for my first in-home cardio experience.  :)  Then, it's Oscar night.  (I hope I manage to stay up for at least an hour.)

Nighty night.  :)

night 1

Greetings.  Ryan's gone to Graz and made me promise to keep him posted with daily blog posts.
We dropped him off at the airport at 3:20 p.m., made one pit-stop on the way home and then.....

The last three hours of the day seemed to last forever.  By six o'clock we were already in the bathtub!  Yes, me too.  I haven't jumped in with Ruby in a while but I needed a break.  Unfortunately, the luke warm, 4" deep water was less relaxing than I had imagined, but Ruby loved it.  She really enjoys bath time.

Cleaning the tub surround.

Making a crazy looking face.  :)

I envision many baths this week.  Maybe I'll even get one.... after hours, with dim lights and candles.  Oh... who am I kidding?  Way too much effort for the return on investment.  I'll just lie on the couch with a heating pad under my back.  That's relaxing and as much effort as I'm able to put in these days.  This new baby is kicking my butt.  (And making my butt very fat and lazy..... which is why it's getting fat I suppose).

ANYWAY......

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Hope you had a safe and relaxing flight Ryan.  We miss you already.  oxoxoxoxo
